Paperless Promotion

What is Paperless Promotion?
The term “paperless office” is becoming more popular and refers to the use of digital form of documentation and communication instead of using printed paper. The popularity of pdf as a document format has been of great benefit, allowing documents to be easily distributed in a high quality, cross-platform format.
The problem is that paper is still the standard form of physical product promotion. Exhibitions and shows are one of the places where massive volumes of high quality printed paper are distributed. During a 3 day show, thousands of pamphlets maybe be distributed, many of which end up in the trash within 24 hours. A high percentage of pamphlets are “collected” by passers by who many never even read the brochure.
Paperless promotion aims to reduce to amount of paper used in promotional activities.
What is wrong with using paper?
- Paper products are the single biggest component of waste disposal sites
- Paper production uses huge amount of energy
- Paper production uses huge volumes of water
- Paper production is a major generator of air and water pollutants
- Softwood paper plantations often use toxic chemical herbicides and fertilizers
- Paper demand contributes greatly to deforestation
Recycled paper reduces the need for new trees to be harvested, but the negative effect of the production processes are still present, and is not as environmentally friendly as many people may think.
What can you do about it?
Apricus has a strong feeling of duty to not only produce products that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also to play our part in the community to become part of the SOLUTION. Reducing paper usage plays an important role in minimising our environmental impact.
The following are some ways you can easily reduce the amount of paper you waste:
1. Read the news electronically (online) when possible
2. Put a “no junk mail” sticker on your letterbox
3. View emails and documents on your computer instead of printing them out
4. When printing is required print double-sides to effectively half the amount of paper used
5. Use scrap paper to make your notes in the office or at home
6. Minimise the brochures you pick up when you go to shows or exhibitions. Most companies will have a website with comprehensive information available for you.
